We are pleased to announce the arrival of our summer interns, Kesley Powell and Ethan Heilig. We hope you will take a few minutes to check out their backgrounds. TargetPoint takes great pride in our internship program and are looking forward to all that these two have to offer in the coming months.
Kesley Powell
Intern
Kesley is from the tri-cities area in Washington state and is a Senior at Brigham Young University majoring in Political Science and minoring in Political Strategy, History, and Sociology. As a research assistant in the Political Science Department and a research fellow with the Center for the Study of Elections and Democracy (CSED), she has had the opportunity to work on original research projects involving campaign finance, congressional credit claiming, and gendered political endorsements. This past semester, she received an award for her work with CSED identifying the correlations between racial resentment and white identity measures. Kesley is passionate about quantitative data analysis and creating engaging data visualizations. Kesley enjoys visiting bakeries, exploring Washington D.C., listening to history and politics podcasts, and spending time with her family.
Ethan Heilig
Intern
Ethan is from Asheville, North Carolina and is a recent graduate of Rhodes College where he majored in Political Economy. Prior to joining TargetPoint, he interned at the Office of Government Relations for the Episcopal Church and with Memphis based criminal justice non-profit Just City. For his senior thesis, Ethan programed and analyzed a survey designed to examine the consistency of political opinion among his peers at Rhodes College. Ethan enjoys biking, the outdoors, and podcasts about data and social science and is looking forward to his time with TargetPoint this summer.
